She stepped out of the cab and looked around. It was around 5 am, and people, usual, regular people, were most probably asleep. It was almost the end of the night, the consuming, sucking-away-all-the-fun-and-leaving-you-longing-for-the-next-weekend kinda night. She had started walking towards home when she heard someone say hello. She looked up, all overwhelmed and frustrated, then she saw her. Where you goin' to, she said, you alright?
I'm okay, she replied, just goin' home. The 2 girls walked home together. My mum's a doctor, said the blonde stranger, she knows everything in the entire world.
So she does?, she replied and asked, what does she know about the both of us?
The blonde looked straight into her eyes as if she could see right through them. She knew we'd meet today, she said, today's the most important day of our lives, tonight, tonight's the night.
It was too much. Whatever you choose to call it, love, the risk, the possibility of getting broken-hearted, she couldn't stand it. The girls walked home and she never asked for the blonde's phone number, nor her name. Had she asked, they would've been together for the rest of their lives. She was her soulmate. She never asked, and they never knew. It was just one of those opportunities that people miss everyday. They never knew.
